May 15-29, 2025
Join us for some fun beer talks and tastings. The Asheville Brewers Alliance organizes beer week, see their full list of events.
Steeped in Tradition
Sunday, May 18 - 3pm

Join our owner/brewer, David Byer, and Brent Manning from Riverbend Malt House to discuss the intersection of traditional lagers and local malt. Dating back to the 1800s, these beers have been brewed using specific ingredients from European maltsters. Today, brewers are reimagining these classic beers with regionally-sourced grains that bring you unique flavors while upholding the time honored production techniques.

After a brief presentation, several different lagers will be poured along with a malt tea made with its corresponding Pilsner-style malt to give attendees a peek behind the scenes of modern lager creation.

Lukr Side Pull vs. Standard Beer Faucets: Better Pours or Industry Hype?
Wednesday, May 21 - All day

Come try the same beer on both our Lukr Side Pull faucet and a standard beer faucet and decide for yourself whether side pulls are worth the hype and deliver a noticeably different drinking experience. Traditional Czech-style pours available, such as Hladinka and MlĂko, as well as slow pours.

Flavor Trip with Miracle Berries & Sour Beers
Tuesday, May 27 - All day

We'll have dried Miracle Berries on hand, which are a fascinating fruit from Africa that can turn sour foods sweet via a molecule called miraculin, which is a taste modifier. We'll offer up several sour beer options so you can have fun seeing how each one is changed by the fruit.

From Field to Fermenter: How federal programs support the craft beer industry
Wednesday, May 28 - 6pm

Join us in the taproom for a fascinating Zoom discussion, moderated by Brent Manning from Riverbend Malt House, with Stan Hieronymus (celebrated beer journalist), Eric Sannerud (President of Sannerud Hop Consulting), Ashley McFarland (VP and Technical Director of the American Malting Barley Association), and Nick Santantonio (Professor of Plant Breeding at Virginia Tech) as we discuss the role of federal agencies in both hop and barley breeding. These efforts support a wide variety of nationwide programs designed to support the next wave of flavorful, resilient crops that are the building blocks of your favorite pint.

We will be tapping several new beers, an IPA and up to four Hoppy Pilsners, all showcasing hops and malts that benefited from federal programs and funding.
